Android: A Carrier For Google Services

LeWeb in Paris is heating up with Google's Vice President Marissa Mayer talking about the business approach of Google. When question arise how Google's Android is yet not able to surpass Apple's iPhone in terms of popularity. But as VP said, Google is not keeping an approach of Android device manufacturers like HTC or Samsung

but is using Android as a vehicle to make its services reach mass. Marissa Mayer seem very much excited about what lies in the future of mobile phones. She quoted

Google Maps for Mobile shines more on Android because we can do so much more there. Android is something special to us because we can do so much more in terms of features.

Most of Google's revenue is from advertisement on its products and Google Maps are not exception to it. Depending on user's search, it also helps Google to submit relevant ads on the Map page. In accordance to Google Maps, VP provided one more proof of how Android was used to reach users for introduction of smaller and faster maps. It was also used for promoting Google Maps with ability to explore indoor of malls, railway stations etc and Android was the first device to have this feature. With so much access to the services like Maps, Smartphone outnumbered personal computer in Maps usage.

Google's open source Android system is more than what it looks outside. And what Mayer said, proves the same!
