Google Rebrands Android Market to Google Play

Google has decided to unite Android Market, a place to buy and download Android Apps, and few other services under one name, Google Play. Other services to get collaborated under one name are Google Music and Google eBookstore.

The change came as breaking down of "discrimination" among different services. There were chances that very few would have known about services from Google where you can listen to musics or subscribe to digital content. With Google Play, users will be able to explore wide range of services offered by Google in different fields. Here is a promotional video uploaded by Google on YouTube.

Google Play is a cloud based service where you can download a video or eBook on one device and take it to another device just like one can do on Apple devices using iCloud. As explained in video, if you left out while reading an eBook on your Android device, you can carry it on your Tablet finishing reading.

Google Play has integrated Google Plus service so that one can share what he is listening to or what book he is currently reading with his friends on Google+. Android Market from here onward will bear a name as Google Play Store and books, movies and music will get prefix "Google Play" ahead of them. You can witness change in name on Android Market online store and soon it will be rolled out to Android devices having Android Froyo or higher.

To make this change be popular, Google is offering discounted rates for premium apps, books and movies under sale "7 Days to Play".

Do you think this change in name will affect popularity of Android services? Let us know your views in comments below.
